ENOUGH is a durational performance installation in which artist Matt Pierce presents backbreaking live solo movement incorporating text, video projection and sound. The piece is informed by the story of Jacob, who, in demand of his blessing, wrestles an angel until daybreak. ENOUGH exposes a physical, psychological and spiritual struggle urging the viewer to ask, "to what lengths will I strive for more?" This question is posed in a particularly tumultuous climate of national and global reflection upon similar themes. Poet Rainer Maria Rilke offers: What we choose to fight is so tiny! What fights us is so great! With his latest piece, Pierce explores this notion and questions the deeper consequences of those blessings for which we relentlessly strive.
ENOUGH is featured as part of the Interdisciplinary Arts + Media MFA Thesis Exhibition at Columbia College Chicago from April 25 - May 21, 2009
